Hitler’s Legacy: Everyone from Alaska to Timbuktu knows that Adolf Hitler was an evil man who performed horrific atrocities in the attempt to create a Master Race. To this end, and under the guise of euthanasia, Hitler killed nearly 300,000 people who were physically or mentally disabled, weak, alcoholic, elderly or who had diseases. This says nothing of the 10 million others he killed in his search for a Master Race.
Margaret Sanger’s Legacy: While the world would rightly condemn the Nazis for their worldview of eugenics, few people realize that Margaret Sanger, founder of Planned Parenthood, held the same ideas and beliefs as Hitler did. The point of starting her organization “The Birth Control League” (later to be named Planned Parenthood) was to help create a superior race, a racially evolved mankind. In my last post (Part 1 here), I gave numerous quotes that back this up, not to mention Planned Parenthood’s own website admit to her eugenics legacy.
Adolf Hitler is credited with killing over 6 million innocent Jews through eugenics and by other means. Planned Parenthood is credited with killing 7 million babies since 1973 through abortion. This is to say nothing of the 60 million innocent children who had their live taken thanks to Planned Parenthood’s founder Margaret Sanger and her eugenics legacy.
Margaret Sanger is the founder of the incredibly controversial organization known as Planned Parenthood who shared the same worldview of eugenics as Adolf Hitler did. She believed that birth control would be the best method of creating a superior race, an evolved mankind. In her mind, evolution worked too slow, and birth control was the way to breed better humans and rid society of “stupid,” “moronic,” diseased and “unfit” people. Sound hard to believe? Check out her own words and beliefs below.
In case you don’t know, Eugenics is the removal or weeding out of weak, disabled, and unfit people from society while simultaneously breeding people who are physically and mentally strong. The goal is population control and racial perfection. Everybody and their grandmother knows that Hitler practiced this on a wide scale, but very few realize that Margaret Sanger agreed with this worldview and practiced it too. Her eugenic worldview is even admitted on Planned Parenthood’s own website. Below are frightening words from Sanger’s own mouth. Her debased ideology was the foundation of Planned Parenthood.
Margaret Sanger, Eugenics, and Her Own Words:
Margaret Sanger’s aim for population control and racial perfection is undeniable and can be summed up in her constant chant: “More children from the fit and less from the unfit. That is the chief aim of birth control” (Birth Control Review, May, 1919.) Sanger often placed this goal at the top of her birth control magazine publications. Sometimes the subtitles were just as chilling; such as the one in this publication: “Birth Control: to create a race of thoroughbreds” (BCR, November, 1921). Her ultimate goal of contraception was summed up in her own words in a New York Times interview when she said, “Superman is the aim of Birth Control” (New York Times, Jan. 20th, 1922).
Read that line about Superman again! … Now, read it again. … Let it sink in. Margaret Sanger is saying that the ultimate purpose of birth control is racial perfection, an evolved human race, and in short: Superman. That should send a shutter down anyone’s spine to know people like that existed here in America and were working toward ridding the world of those people they deemed unfit to live… just like Hitler did in Germany.
In her book, Woman and the New Race, Sanger mentions three different viable options for removing all of the cursed and unfit people from society:
Option #1: “The brutish method of war.” (This is the option Hitler chose and which Sanger agreed with in order for Germany to purify itself from “overpopulation” and from weak and inferior people. War wasn’t her personal approach but she agreed that “Hitler’s argument was sound.” Though she would conveniently criticize Hitler later once his belief in eugenics came under attack.)
Option #2: To let the “defectives” and “stupid people” die out by allowing disease and other “natural remedies” to take their toll and lead them to their natural end. In other words, do not work to save the sick and dying people of society. Just let them die. (This is one reason that Sanger abhorred the Catholic Church and her charities because it just kept these defectives alive longer and used up precious resources. She has a whole chapter in her book vehemently attacking charities.)
Option #3: By using birth control, sterilization and segregation, which she called the more “sane” and “civilized” approach to racial superiority. (Same philosophy and goal as Hitler just a different method). ~ Woman and the New Race (156-159; and especially 160-161)
For Sanger, birth control, segregation, sterilizations (and abortion if necessary) could help the population to evolve faster by ridding the world of weak and stupid people. Thus, while she may have ideas to help women and help make healthier families in some sort of warped way, her motives were completely eclipsed from the start due to the bizarre worldview from which she operated. While trying to “help women,” she simultaneously sought to weed out inferior races and unfit people from the world, through force if need be.
Sanger wrote a book entitled, The Pivot of Civilization. In it she states, “Birth Control is the pivot of civilization. Birth Control, which has been criticized as negative and destructive, is really the greatest and most truly eugenic method, and its adoption as part of a program of eugenics would immediately give a concrete and realistic power to that science. As a matter of fact, Birth Control has been accepted by the most clear thinking Eugenists as the most constructive and necessary means to racial health” (Pg. 67, emphasis added).
Those “clear-minded” Eugenists she is speaking of were racist, white supremacy whack jobs that will be discussed and illuminated in Part 2. In short, some of these same people wrote for Hitler and also worked for Sanger in her organization. Sanger is not remotely the great women some people try to make her out to be.
Listen to what else Margaret Sanger wrote; “The most urgent problem today is how to limit and discourage the over-fertility of the mentally and physically defective. Possible drastic and even Spartan methods may be forced upon American society if it continues complacently to encourage the chance and chaotic breeding that has resulted from our stupid, cruel sentimentalism” (Ibid, Pg. 9, emphasis added).
Sanger continues; “The emergency problem of segregation and sterilization must be faced immediately. Every feeble-minded girl or woman of the hereditary type, especially of the moron class should be segregated during the reproductive period. Otherwise, she is almost certain to bear imbecile children who in turn are just as certain to breed other defectives. The male defectives are no less dangerous. Segregation carried out for one or two generations would give us only partial control of the problem.” She continues, “When we realize that each feeble-minded person is a potential source of an endless progeny of defect, we prefer the policy of immediate sterilization, making sure that parenthood is absolutely prohibited to the feeble minded” (Ibid, Pg. 36, emphasis added). Talk about no free will and dictatorship.
Wow! This is scary stuff! Sounds very much like the 3rd Reich in Nazi Germany. And why shouldn’t it since Sanger learned from the same people who taught Hitler? I could multiply quotes upon quotes regarding the radical doctrine that was forced upon America by Margaret Sanger and why they tried to arrest her, but there is no need. Anybody can see clearly her radical views and the very reason she started The Birth Control League (which would later change its name to Planned Parenthood).
Listen in contrast to the compassionate and loving position the Catholic Church take regarding the “unfit” and “stupid” people of society:
“Even if some little angels in the flesh, through the physical or mental deformities of their parents, may appear in human eyes to be hideous, misshapen, a blot on civilized society, we must not lose sight of this Christian thought that under and within such visible malformation, lives an immortal soul to be saved and glorified for all eternity among the blessed in heaven.”
This is the difference between the Catholic Church’s view lived out through people like Mother Theresa who was world-renowned for her work with the poor, and then Margaret Sanger’s view who would have just let them die.
Sanger’s main enemy was the Catholic Church who stood for the dignity of all human life, even the weakest among us. Jesus taught that, and the Catholic Church upholds it. I suppose that it’s no surprise then that the Catholic Church remains in stark opposition to Planned Parenthood that takes the life of over 300,000 Americans babies a year in abortion. Not all life was precious to Sanger. Some lives needed to be extinguished, which I suppose is the reason so many people can be killed and some don’t blink an eye. They call it “choice.” The Church calls it a tragedy. An injustice. The taking of an innocent life. Catholics will never stop opposing and working toward defend those babies who don’t have a right to life or a voice to speak for themselves.
Planned Parenthood is the largest abortion provider in America, taking the lives of over 300,000 little babies every year (the vast majority having nothing to do with finances or difficult circumstances). Even worse, PP has been exposed for selling baby body parts after abortions for money. Frightening, sickening, unethical, evil, and wrong are some words that come to mind. It seems like the immorality of Sanger has been passed on in many ways.
She wanted more independent women, happier and stronger families, and a new morality (again, in her own sort of warped way). Thanks to contraception, the opposite came true. Women are being used and abused more than ever with men being able to have lifeless, loveless sex without fear of consequences, women being used for their bodies and what they can put out, the rampant objectification of women through pornography, the breakdown of the family, and the skyrocketing of divorce, among other things. These are the result of contraception and the removal of love the way God intended. People thought birth control would lead to less abortions, but they were wrong. Abortion skyrocketed after the use of contraception, and I’m thankful for the Catholic Church who believes all life is precious from conception to natural death.
I’m also thankful this October which is National Pro-Life awareness month, that the majority of the country is pro-life, pro-women, and pro-baby. They are for saving lives and not ending them.
Also, great things are happening. Many abortion doctors and providers are leaving the abortion field and coming back to God seeking forgiveness. Five women abortion doctors, for example, came to the leader of Priests for Life and said they wanted to receive forgiveness from God for the tens of thousands of abortions they performed. They gave up their practice and had their lives transformed. Dr. Bernard Nathanson for example, one of the most pro-choice people in the history of the country who led the charge for pro-choice, repented, came back to God, and converted to the Catholic Church. He made the movie, “The Silent Scream,” which graphically shows an abortion happening through an ultrasound. People who watch this movie will never view abortion the same way again. Ever. Also, Roe (as in Roe Vs. Wade) converted to the Catholic Church and said what she did was the biggest mistake she ever made. Also ask the countless women who have received forgiveness for their abortions they had and have found healing and peace.
Thank God for redemption, mercy, and the newness of life. Thank God for my life when people told my mother to terminate me because my parents were poor and did not have the money for children. Thank God my mother made a different choice – the only choice there is. Life! When it comes to the taking of an innocent life in abortion, which could have been my life, there is no such thing as “choice.”
God is pro-life!
I am pro-life.
I am pro-woman. Pro-baby. Pro-love and kindness.
In the name of Jesus and for the glory of God.
As a side note, I am not saying Sanger was a racist as most people assert. Though the people she learned from were completely racist (as you will learn in Part II); she believed that dead beats and unfits were to be found in all races, even among white people, and still needed to be neutered so they couldn’t reproduce and pass on their defective genes to future generations.
